Her illustration and use of sensitive themes are presented in an uplifting manner through the use of humor and bright color. She creates intimacy through the use of highly rendered detailed images and form, requiring the viewer to move closer to the work to capture the full meaning within each piece.

Chris Raschka, 1994 Caldecott Honor Award winner, reviewed Debra's illustration work, describing it as "very detailed and her use of color has a Renaissance luminescence."

The Work
Debra has produced a large body of work over the past ten years and includes children's illustrations. Her first childrens's picture book is called, One Starry Night, 2000, Baby Star Productions. Her fine art has been described by some as magical surrealism. Debra has done corporate illustration for a variety of regional organizations. She is versatile in several mediums which include in acrylic (glazing technique), graphite, watercolor and colored pencil illustration.
Debra is also an accomplished jewelry designer.
Education and Business Experience
Debra has a B.A. in fine art and graphic design, and has worked as a professional art instructor. She also holds a M.S. degree in organizational behavior and international marketing, and has ten years of executive development and management experience. A highly unusual set of experiences and skills.
